FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Question: What is media blasting?

Answer: Media blasting is the process of thoroughly removing unwanted surface debris, paint and rust by means of a mixture of abrasives and high pressure air which once applied brings the surface back to bare metal. We use the best environmentally friendly media which leaves your parts clean, etched and ready for powder coat.

Question: What is powder coating?

Answer: Powder coat is type of coating that is applied as a free-flowing, dry powder. The coating is applied electrostatically and then cured with high heat. This allows the powder that has been applied to form a hard protective finish that is significantly stronger and more than conventional wet spray paint. Unlike wet spray painting, powder coat adheres very quickly which allows it to be handled almost immediately after the powder coat has been applied. The result is a uniform, durable, high quality and a resilient finish.

Question: how durable is powder coating?

Answer: One of the best things about powder coating is how incredibly durable and strong powder coat is. It stands up against the toughest conditions, keeping its original polished look. Powder coating also provides enduring rust inhibiting qualities, thus protecting the parts intended look and feel.

Question: How many colors are there and are all the colors the same price?

Answer: If you can't find the color you're looking for in the In-Stock Colors we have, you can come in and take a look at our special order powder coat color book. Special order powders are subject to an additional charge and are non-refundable.

Amazingly, the cost of the powder represents only a small part of the total cost of the powder coating process. Most of the cost can be attributed to the labor of setup for special-ordered colors and the particular process required to achieve these special-ordered colors.

Question: Can you powder coat anything?

Answer: We are unable to powder coat wood, plastic and rubber due to the extreme heat involved in the powder coating process that will melt or burn away anything that can not stand the 400 degree temperate the oven reaches.

Question: Do parts have to be clean?

Answer: Things such as grease and dirt contaminate the powder and weaken the bond between the powder and the metal. We do not have the facilities to properly remove any grease or oils that may be on your part. For this reason we require your parts to be grease and oil free before you bring them to us. Please review our Terms & Conditions prior to media blasting for a more in depth information of what is your responsibility prior to requesting our services.

Question: Do you have set prices for items?

Answer: We take pride in providing extraordinary service at a competitive price. Although price does vary drastically between similar pieces simply give us a call and we would be happy to discuss with you an estimate at 816-322-2424.

Question: If my parts have already been cleaned & media blasted can I just pay for the powder coating service only?

Answer: If we don't media blast it, we don't powder coat it, period.

Question: How quickly can i pick up my completed item/project?

Answer: Our typical turnaround time is 5 to 7 business days.
